The Juno nominations came out today (Feb 7) and in among all the Feists, Headleys and Nickelbacks is the hot LGBT category of electronic album of the year, featuring nominations for Feel It Break by Austra (our November 2011 cover story) and the eponymous debut release from Azari and III (Fritz Helder’s band with Starving Yet Full, Dinamo Azari and Alixander III). The two Toronto outfits are up against Tim Hecker (whose credits include the soundtrack to Rodrigue Jean’s hustler documentary Men for Sale), Junior Boys and Arthur Oskan.
Elsewhere, kd lang is nominated in the producer of the year category. And the grab bag international category features noms for Adele, Coldplay, Lady Gaga, LMFAO and Rihanna.
The Juno Awards will be broadcast from Ottawa on Sun, Apr 1. junoawards.ca.
