Are you a drag queen with a mean set of heels and a show that’s too cute to boot? Or how about a singer with vocal chords that can really wail? Gotta funny joke to tell?
If so, Pride Toronto wants you.
In preparation for its 31st year, the non-profit organization that organizes Canada’s largest LGBT festival is seeking submissions from artists of all disciplines to perform at its 2011 festival happening June 24 to July 3.
Last year’s summer festival reportedly drew an estimated crowd of over one million people, spanned across 22 city blocks, and featured a diverse line-up of local and international artists on eight stages.
High-profile acts that have graced the stage at previous Toronto Pride’s include Cyndi Lauper, Kelly Rowland, Deborah Cox, Mel C, Esthero, Dragonette, RuPaul, Divine Brown, Thelma Houston, Indigo Girls, Carole Pope and Sandra Bernhard.
Local DJs, bands, drag queens and kings, dancers, comedians, community groups and theatrical troupes are encouraged to apply. Deadline for submission is February 4, 2011. Application forms here.
